Active TB Pathway

Using the picture to talk with someone who has just started Active TB treatment:

  • I’m going to show you what the next few months can look like when you have Active TB and are taking treatment. This is just a general idea, we talk about details and supports later.

  • So, this is you here a few weeks ago. You had (or did not have) some symptoms and came to talk to the nurse who asked you to do some tests for TB. They told you, you have TB, and that you need to be treated.

  • You are now a few days into treatment. You’ve started your isolation but your isolation will be over soon, and you won’t need to worry about spreading TB to anyone else.

  • You’re in Phase 1 of treatment but if you take your antibiotics every day, you’ll be into Phase 2 in no time. Many people find that Phase 2 is easier than Phase 1, so we just gotta push through.

  • If you don’t already, you’ll start to feel better. As you’re feeling better and out of isolation, you can get back to doing things you love!

  • After Phase 2 is over, you’re done treatment! It’s a big accomplishment!

  • You’ll have some follow ups for the next few years just to make sure your lungs are still healthy, but we can talk more about that when we get there.

  • I’m sure you have some questions, how is all that sounding so far?
