Latent TB Pathway
Using the picture to talk with someone who is about to start Latent TB treatment:
I’m going to show you what the next few months can look like when you have Latent TB and are taking treatment. We’ll discuss more of the details and supports we can offer later.
So, if remember correctly, you were somewhere where there was a higher chance of breathing in the TB bacteria, and you came to the clinic to talk to the nurse and do some more testing for TB. They told you, you have Sleeping TB.
Now we talked about treatment already, and you decided you wanted to go for it. You’ll get your first two weeks of antibiotics today.
After that about every two weeks you’ll come back to the clinic to get a refill. Sometimes the nurse will want to do a quick evaluation with you, just to check in to see how things are going and make sure your body is reacting well to the treatment.
You’re on the standard Latent TB treatment so if you take your antibiotics every day, you’ll be finished in about 4 months.
While you’re taking treatment, remember you’re not contagious so as long as you’re feeling up to it you can keep doing the activities you enjoy and being around your friends and family.
